Life on the Couch

My son reminded me in a phone call this weekend that I needed to update my blog. For some reason, since returning from vacation I haven't wanted to write. That was probably because I caught a virus a couple of days after arriving home and have wanted to do nothing but lie on the couch for the last two weeks. I couldn't eat and felt pretty rotten. I'm feeling better now and have been trying to get back into some of my routine this week. I have a huge laundry to do, the house to clean and my garden to weed. I may hire out the gardening this one time.

We are about half way through an as yet uneventful hurricane season. That is very good news. We have been having lots of rain and thunderstorms which is good because this is our rainy season. I look forward to autumn and winter and some cooler days and nights.

I started a class tonight entitled "Boundaries" which is designed to teach us to recognize, set and respect boundaries. I think that I can learn a good life skill in this class and everyone in class seems to be at about my level of inadequacy.

I went to see HOLLYWOODLAND last weekend and it was an interesting movie. I guess a more appropriate title for it might have been "Who Shot Superman?" It seemed to follow closely the story of George Reeves life. I guess we will never know for sure how his life ended. Modern investigative measures would no doubt prove conclusively what transpired on that day in 1959.

This is my story for now. Maybe I will become more creative as I adjust back to my solitary life. The couch beckons.

A little couch time never hurt anyone. Besides, getting readjusted to life at home after a month away is always challenging.

I caught a virus, too--a cold virus. Both of my interns had colds, and even though I've been obsessive about hand washing before and after each patient I see, it wasn't enough. I was going to go to Lula for breakfast, since it's my day off, but I guess there's no point, since I can't taste anything.

I'd go to Lula just to sit there and take in the surroundings and have a coffee or tea. Mom

um waffles from Lula's. I can almost taste them right now.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I was down for two weeks myself. It was terrible. I actually had to get antibiotics so I must have had something different.
